Post Nationals activities and news!

Hello Again!

Its been about a week since I arrived back home in Indiana from Miss Teen United States-World in Houston ,Texas. Wow! What an amazing experience. I made so many new friends and have hundreds of new tagged photos from them on Facebook to remember the experience. Having never competed in a national pageant and this only being my second pageant, I didn't know what to expect of the girls. Overall, they were genuinly sweet girls with hilarious personalities. I do believe that I just might have found some life long friends at that pageant. McKenzie Beach, Miss Teen Georgia World, and Kyndal Hayes, Miss Teen Tennessee World, are two of the funniest, sweetest, and most genuine girls that I have ever met. We are in the process of figuring out dates to visit each other! Also, Miss Teen D.C. World, Kaytlynn West have planned a date where she will take me to meet President Obama. We are yet to hear back from him as to his compliance.

As for what I placed, I managed to make my way into the top fifteen and be the first state called! It was such a relief to not have to sweat out being called towards the end. Swimsuit went very well, and with that I found myself being the second state called for the top ten! I was so thrilled, and hadn't even set my hopes past the top fifteen. My interview a few days before wasn't my best, and that is the only thing that I will really need to work on for pageants to come. If I had a solid interview, I believe I could've done much better, but I am immensely pleased with the outcome. I ended up placing sixth overall which was great news. Miss Teen New Jersey World, Michelle Leonardo, came out on top, in front of my dear friend, Cassie Sumimoto, Miss Teen Hawaii World. Months later Michelle was released of her duties and we all bumped up one more spot, leaving me as the fourth runner up and Cassie as the queen. I couldn't have been more excited that my close friend was the new national representative. The coronation ball that followed was a little slice of heaven! I got to chow down on chocolate covered strawberries, traditional Texas briskit, fruit, spinach salad, desert casseroles, and so much more! We took many memorable photos and danced to Thriller in honor of the late Michael Jackson. Around midnight a few of us went to the outdoor pool and dipped our poor, battered feet in the water for a much deserved break. The next morning I was headed home to Indy and a mountain of Facebook friend requests from everyone I had met at the pageant who I still communicate with.

I just recently had a photo shoot at the famous Spring Mill State Park, where I added a few more photos to my crown and sash photo collection. I have made a few appearances at local fairs near my hometown and look forward to the many fairs still on the way. As for now, I look back on the competitions with fond memories and look forward to the many more good times to come!

xoxo Kimberly
